Why implants are the gold standard
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that replaces the root of a missing tooth, permanently anchored into your jaw bone. A custom crown is then attached on top — looking, feeling and functioning exactly like a natural tooth.
Why consider an implant?
- Permanent — once it's healed in, you can essentially forget about it
- Restores chewing — eat what you want, on either side of your mouth
- Preserves bone — without a tooth root, the jaw bone shrinks over time. An implant stops that
- Looks natural — no one will know it's not your real tooth
- Doesn't damage neighbouring teeth — unlike a bridge, no surrounding teeth are filed down
- Maintains facial structure — keeps your face full and youthful by preserving bone
How it works
- Consultation and imaging. 3D scans show us where the bone is and isn't.
- Implant placement. The titanium post is placed in a minor surgical procedure, usually under local anaesthetic.
- Healing. Over 3–6 months, your bone grows around and fuses to the implant ("osseointegration").
- Crown placement. The custom porcelain crown is attached to the implant. You leave with a complete tooth.
Are you a candidate?
Most healthy adults are. We'll assess bone density, gum health, and general medical conditions during the consultation. If bone has shrunk too much over the years, a bone graft may be needed before placement. Smokers and patients with uncontrolled diabetes can still get implants, but healing takes longer.
Single tooth, multiple teeth, full arch
Implants aren't only for one missing tooth. Implant-supported bridges replace two or more adjacent teeth on just two implants. All-on-4 uses four implants to support a full set of fixed teeth — a permanent, stable alternative to dentures.
